Jassa Singh Ramgarhia’s leadership abilities and military acumen were recognized at an early age, and he rose to prominence within the Sikh community as a skilled warrior and strategist. He played a key role in the defense of Amritsar against the invading Afghan forces in 1757, and his successful defense of the city earned him the title of “Ramgarhia” from the Sikh community. Under his leadership, the Ramgarhia community became known for their exceptional skills in building fortifications and constructing military equipment. Jassa Singh Ramgarhia oversaw the construction of several forts and defensive structures, including the Ramgarh Fort in Amritsar, which became a symbol of the Ramgarhia community’s strength and resilience.
